Top Attractions For Yamba
Yamba's Story House Museum
- Yamba's Story House is located next to the Golf Club within the original bowls clubhouse. Models, photographs and relics of the early days are on display and some excellent books are for sale. Open 2- 5pm Wed, Sat & Sun. The brochure “Historical Walk around Yamba” is available at the Museum.
Surf Beaches
- The Main Beach, below Flinders Park, is patrolled during the summer season (as are Turners and Pippi). Nearby is a rock pool, suitable for children. Other beautiful beaches include Turner's Beach - between the main breakwall and the lighthouse: Convent Beach - between the main beach and Lovers Point: Pippie Beach - the southern- most beach which runs south, towards Angourie (beware of rips): and Whiting Beach - a stillwater river beach beside the breakwall, ideal for young children. Angourie beaches are prized by experienced surfers.
Palmers Island
- This island to the west of Yamba is the second largest of the Clarence River's 100 islands. The rich flood plains have long been prime sugar cane country but more recently prawn farms have been established on land adjacent to the river. The main road between Yamba and Maclean bisects the island and minor roads branch off leading to some excellent fishing spots and to wonderful hide-aways.
Top Activities For YAMBA
Canoeing and Kayakking
- Canoes and Kayaks can be rented for an interesting tour of local canals and waterways
Lighthouse on Pilot Hill
- The views from the lighthouse are breathtaking, affording the visitor the amazing sights of Iluka, various beaches, the river, ocean and Bundjalung National Park. Well worth the climb.
Marina and Beaches
- Explore the marina and take in the fishing activity. Head to the beaches to watch the boats and fishers whilst trying to catch a glimpse of the many dolphins that populate the area.
